We had a great time at the Trail Dance Film Festival this past weekend. It is always exciting to share your work with a new audience. You have no idea how they are going to respond. It is one of the most vulnerable times you can experience as a filmmaker. Fortunately we had a great audience at Trail Dance and they responded well to Dispirited. I spent a lot of the screening watching the audience watch Dispirited. It was heartening to see they were along for the ride. It was fun watching them jump, but it was even better to see how they responded to the emotion of the story. There were tears.
If you ever get a chance to check out Trail Dance in Duncan, Oklahoma as a filmmaker or a fan, please do. It is a great festival that is well run by Anthony and Ed Foreman. I personally want to thank them and all of the volunteers for their hard work in making the festival happen. It was an honor to have Dispirited included in festival with so many great and diverse independent films. I can’t wait to go back next year.
